Major Palooza Overview
Major-Palooza, co-sponsored by Student Success Center and Career Services, has been running approximately 10 years. Each year, approximately 500 students and 50 departments representing over 75 majors attend this event, typically held in February each year. Based on completed student evaluations, it appears that talking with advisers and departmental representatives moved students closer to declaring their major. The majority of students were from the QUEST program.
Overwhelmingly, students indicate that they are aware of at least one major and/or career that might be a good fit for them. Most students respond that they are able to identify steps they may need to take before they declare a major and over 50% told us that after Major-Palooza, they are ready to declare a major! When asked whom students found helpful — over 90% indicated advisers, faculty, and/or student reps.
